What is Tengkolok or Tanjak?

How cute are these adorable Japanese couple?

What the Japanese man is wearing is called a tengkolok or tanjak. The tanjak or tengkolok, are popularly accepted as the traditional Malay headwears for men in Malaysia, although the Malays traditionally wear headwears and head-gears in various forms. Just as hats, berets, caps, and others are suited to their particular dressings in the western world, the Malay tanjak or tengkolok is worn and complements exquisitely the traditional full Malay costume of Baju Melayu.

Besides worn during traditional Malay weddings by the groom during the bersanding ceremony, the tanjak or tengkolok are put on during formal and public ceremonies where royalties grace the occasion.

Fresh air of Kampung...

RECREATION WITH FAMILY

OH My Kampung Tour is the perfect tour for the entire family. Not only that it is a relaxing recreational tour that would not require you to walk too much, you would also be able to witness the natural beauty of Malaysia, far from the big blocks and skyscrapers of the city.

FLORA & FAUNA

During the tour, you would be able to learn as much as possible about flowers, spices, vegetables and other plants which have been very useful to the kampung folks, way before technology was introduced!

FISHING

Fishing is optional - especially for those keen to overnight. You would see a large pond of fish when you come and visit :)

LOCAL DELICACIES

"Kuih Bahulu, [is] a traditional Malaysian kuih (or cake).
A favorite among many Malaysians of all races and ages, kuih bahulu is usually baked during the festive seasons such as Hari Raya and Chinese New Year. These sweet and eggy kuih go very well with coffee, and are always a crowd-pleaser during the festive seasons. A few kuih bahulu and a cup of coffee is a surefire way to greet your guests…
Kuih bahulu comes in different shapes, but the popular ones are the button and goldfish (pictured below). Thekuih bahulu mold also come in different sizes–big and small. I used the small button and gold fish molds for my kuih bahulu because I simply adore cutesy size."

The kampung has its own local factory which produces kuih bahulu and other local delicacies too!
